The chart below allows you to compare energy
costs based on each fuel's rate per Kilowatt, Gallon or Therm. If you look
at the chart going from left to right - we compare fuel costs based on the
off-peak rate.
Example: if your off-peak rate is 3.5 cents/kWh, any time you pay more
than $0.56/Gal. for LP, $0.85/Gal. for using 90+ furnace, $0.81/Gal. for
fuel oil or $0.92/Therm; electric heat is more economical.
Compare your electric rate to your current costs of gas and oil. You
may be surprised at what you find.
