The
downflow and horizontal applications have become more popular over the
past few years. As you can see from the diagram, the term downflow
means the air travels in a direction from the top down coming out of the
existing furnace. The horizontal diagram shows the air flow going
from side to side. The diagrams below illustrates the typical
installation and the optional dimensions required by the Electro-Mate.

Horizontal Diagram

Plenum and airflow requirements for an Electro-Mate to be installed
in your system are:
- Minimum width is 15”
- Minimum depth is 18”
- Minimum height for no Air Conditioning is 10"
- Minimum height for Air Conditioning is a-coil plus 5” assuming
the A/C line sets come out at the bottom
In a downflow system it is recommended to have the Electro-Mate above
the coil.
