Electro-Stat™
- Important item for hydronics under-floor heating
- Slab stat assures optimum radiant floor heating & comfort
Concept
The principle of radiant floor heating is a large surface area with the surface temperature slightly higher than the objects to be heated. The temperature differential between the surface and the objects is directly related to the energy “coming out of the floor” to overcome the building envelope heat loss and maintain comfort for the occupants. Since a temperature differential is required, the operating or temperature control device must sense the floor temperature in order to properly control radiation and control over or underheating.
Example: Radiant heat results, supported by technical manuals.

Air stats are designed and used with forced air systems. How can an air stat regulate the floor temperature and the rate of radiation from the floor?
With combination systems (gas furnace/Electro-Mate/forced air ducting and lower level radiant floor) the air stat works great for the forced air. How can another air stat (probably sensing the forced air from the ducting system) possibly manage the radiant floor temperature?
